In 2017, new WorkSafeBC regulations came into effect where all potential joint health and safety committee members in Victoria, Saanich, Nanaimo, Duncan and Comox must receive 8 hours of JHSC instruction. If you became a member of your organization’s joint health and safety committee on or after April 3, 2017, you are required to complete eight hours of training. Our 8 hour Joint Health & Safety Committee Training BC Course meets and exceeds all new WorkSafeBC requirements. Any workplace in British Columbia BC with 20 or more employees must have a functioning joint health and safety committee, while those with between 10 and 19 workers must have a designated worker health and safety representative. Our JHSC course meets and exceed all WorkSafeBC regulation requirements. While this training is optimized for local regional employers, our curriculum aligns completely with the overarching worksafebc provincial standards required to secure your official joint health and safety committee training bc credentials.

Online Self Study 8 Hour JHSC Course BC

✅ This worksafebc jhsc joint health and safety committee training BC course is a selfy study course with no instructor. You will receive self study material sectioned into 3 components (adding up to 8 hours of study material): JSHC Fundamental's, Workplace Inspections & Incident Investigations
✅  This self study material will be in the form of PowerPoints, Worksafe Videos, Worksafe Study Booklets, Sample Agendas and Minutes, Sample Forms (incident investigations and workplace inspections), Sample Terms of Reference, Annual Evaluation Form & Videos
✅  Go through the complete course documentation at your own pace, finish your required testing, and email everything to our team ([email protected]) for administrative sign-off. If you do not have a scanner take a picture of each exam page from your digital phone and email the pictures to us. The purpose of these exams is to ensure due diligence and so we have a record in place to ensure your certification. Send all 3 exams in one email if possible. This is not a pass or fail course. If for any reason a participant does not receive a minimum of 80% on their final exams, we will simply email them back and advise them to re-look at the questions they got wrong. All participants will recieve their certification after the course.

Do you offer an 8 hour JHSC classroom course with an instructor?
Yes we do! Our 8 hour classroom course is conducted by our instructor in one full day. This course is only scheduled through one day (8 hours) and cannot be subdivided into two days. It is scheduled from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. This course is conducted virtually via the zoom platform only. You may have each of your members access their own PC during the course or you can situate them in a room and project our instructor from a TV setting. Pricing for our classroom course is based on the number of members per class - a minimim of 5 participants is required. Please contact us for pricing. After each course our instructor will email you all members certificates. Contact Us to schedule a classroom course.

How do I know if my business requires a joint health and safety committee?
If your workplace has 20 or more workers overall within your business, you need a joint health and safety committee. This includes any workplace where there are 20 or more workers employed at the workplace for longer than a month. WorkSafeBC Officers may also order that a joint committee be established in any other workplace or even if you have less than 20 workers.

Is your JHSC BC training certification course recognized with WorkSafeBC?
Yes. Our JHSC 8 Hour certification course is fully compliant with the WorkSafeBC occupational health and safety regulations and recognized by WorkSafeBC.

Do all joint health and safety committee members need to be trained and certified?
Yes. As of April 03, 2017, worksafebc regulations require that all new joint health and safety committee members in BC - must receive eight hours of training and instruction.

How many members do I need on my safety committee?
A joint committee must have at least four members, and at least half of the members must be worker representatives. For the purpose of a joint committee, a worker representative must be someone who does not exercise managerial functions. Managerial functions generally relate to the overall direction at the workplace and may include disciplining workers and representing management in labour relations matters. A WorkSafeBC Officer may require you to have more than 4 members on your committee depending on the size of your business, number of employees, number of departments, number of locations and hazard rating. We recommend you have at least 6 members on your committee as a minimum (2 management reps, 4 employee reps). 1 management rep and the other employee rep can be trained as alternates.

How often does my joint health and safety committee need to meet and conduct a meeting?
As per WorkSafeBC regulations, your joint health and safety committee in BC must meet and conduct a meeting at a minimum of once per month.

How do I set up a joint health and safety committee in BC?
The first step is selecting your worker and employer representatives, and providing them with the necessary training and instruction. The newly formed committee must then establish its own rules of procedure, sometimes called terms of reference. These rules must set out how the committee will perform its duties and functions.

A joint committee must have at least four members, and at least half of the members must be worker representatives or you may have more employee reps than management reps (i.e. 1 manager and 3 employees). But, you CANNOT have more management reps than employee reps on your committee (i.e. you cannot have 3 managers and 1 employee). Management reps can be selected by the employer, however, Employee reps must be ELECTED by the workers. For the purpose of a joint committee, a employee representative must be someone who does not exercise managerial functions. If I do not have time to complete the online self study JHSC course in one day, can I leave and come back to complete the course?
Yes. you can you leave your course at anytime without worrying about losing your progress. This course is self paced and has no time limit for completion. You can forward us the 3 exams for each participant by email anytime you like.

Upon completion of the course, can the course certificates be printed?
Yes, when you forward us your 3 completed exams and pass your final exams successfully, we will email you your certificate within 1 to 2 business days. No one fails the course. We will email you to correct questions if for any reason you do not achieve the 80% pass mark for each exam.

What kind of computer do I need to take your online courses?
To take our courses, we recommend using the latest version of your favorite browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome) on your PC or Mac computer.

Do I have to take an exam at the end of the online course?
Yes. All of our courses are competency-centered, meaning that learners must complete an assessment(s) of some type (i.e. Exam) in order to demonstrate an adequate level of understanding of the topics presented throughout the course. This provides a tremendous level of due diligence which is required to ensure that reasonable precautions are taken for the safety and health of the learner.

What if I fail or don't do well on the three exams?
Your Exams Will be Marked within 1 to 2 business days and a Certificate of Completion will be Emailed to You. You may email us the 3 exams anytime you like as there is no time limit for completion. This is not a pass or fail course. If for any reason a participant does not receive a minimum of 80% on their final exams, we will simply email them back and advise them to re-look at the questions they got wrong. All participants are guaranteed to receive their certification.

What is your refund policy?
Returns & Refunds
As all of our products are digital software, delivered instantly once payment is received, it is impossible for you to return a product to us for a refund. There are no refunds on digital products (i.e. online self study training courses and safety programs). However, we do allow our customers to review their provided programs for a period of 30 days, and if within these 30 days they find any errors in our documents, we will do our utmost best to correct the situation for you. We will make all required corrections to your program, within 5 business days, at no extra cost to our client.
