Preventive action is now required for any infectious disease that is found in the workplace and may pose a risk to workers. Employers in BC are required by law to ensure that work is being conducted safely, and to protect their workers from all work-related hazards, including exposure to infectious diseases. Section 115 of the Workers Compensation Act specifies that employers are not only responsible for their own workers, but also for any other workers who may be present at their workplace.
Employees who work in the Health Care or the Social Services Industry are at a greater risk of exposure to infectious diseases, such as HIV and Hepatitis A, B, or C. This online bloodborne pathogens training course also takes a close look at the use of Personal Protective Equipment, and the requirements of an Occupational Exposure Control Plan. This training course is designed to provide students with the knowledge to reduce or eliminate the occupational risk of blood borne pathogens. Participants will learn to develop behaviors to minimize their exposure to potentially infectious materials and know what steps to take to reduce their risk of contracting a disease in the event of an exposure.
You are able to download and print your certificate of completion immediately after completing the course. There is no expiry to our bloodborne pathogens and safe sharps disposal safety training certification. A mark of 80% must be achieved in order to receive a certificate of completion. Participants are able to repeat the course three times in efforts to achieve the pass mark.
