Take this course to learn when to fight or flee a fire and how to choose and use fire extinguishers. Knowing what to do can save lives! Fires can start quickly and spread rapidly. Over 150 major fires occur in workplaces on an annual basis. Fire is the third leading cause of accidental deaths. WorkSafeBC requires that education and training be provided to employees. Fire codes require extinguishers to be located readily around job sites. However, not knowing how to properly operate one can be dangerous. No matter what industry you’re in, or what size of business, all employers should have employees trained on how to properly use fire extinguishers on site.
