Employers with 20 or more workers must have a formal health and safety program that is developed in consultation with the joint work site health and safety committee or representative. A formal program is a very detailed program which includes policies and safe work procedures. Employers with fewer than 20 workers are also required to have a program, but this program can be less detailed in the form of policies only.
